Valentine's Day Card & Envelope Tutorial (For Kids)

Well Valentine's Day is coming up so it was time to pull out the Valentine's Day crafts. Was scrolling thru pinterest and got a little inspiration but basically came up with this myself....just had Kaycee make personal, cute valentines with things we already had at home. & We had to mail her grandpa one but I didn't want to bend the card, so we MADE an envelope. Yep. Keep reading!!

Making The Card

What You Will Need:

  • Watercolors
  • Construction Paper (2 Colors Per Card)
  • 1 Sheet Regular Printer Paper
  • Coffee Filter
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Glue

Steps:

  1. First thing is first - Take your coffee filter and fold it in half. Now you can either draw a half a heart or cut it free hand (I cut mine freehand) & after you cut it you will see that you have a heart. Let dry.
  2. Let your child draw all over it. I saw tutorials that were SO EXACT which is not always super fun to kiids. Let them go crazy (make sure theya re careful to not tear the paper) until it is done. Let Dry.
**Note: If they dont' fill in the whole thing, you can do what I did which was take a watercolor and fill in the white parts.
  3. Take a piece of construction paper and fold it in half - & then fold it in half again. I personally like to glue the inside parts that won't be seen by the person recieving the card so if you're the same way - do so now.
  4. When you coffee filter heart is done trace it around your second piece of construction paper and cut out a boder for your heart.
  5. Glue the border on the front of the card, and then glue the coffee filter heart on the border after
  6. Cut a small piece of printer paper and glue it on the inside and you can write wahtever note you want.
Sorry that it is so difficult to explain! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
